Hello. If you're on this page you're intrested in finding out more about volunteering for the Free Linux PC project.

I'm not too good with words so to give you a better idea of what Free  Linux PC is all about I'm copying part of an message I got from one of  the volunteers  that is most involved in the project:

We created Free Linux PC with the idea that this can be done anywhere in the world where there are used computers and a few interested individuals.
We are just now getting our first FLPC center going in the Upstate SC area, and hope to have a grand opening event in June. There are other individuals interested in starting FLPC groups in the Midlands and Lowcountry areas of SC as well, but they don't have a facility or strong volunteer base as of yet.
The FLPC concept is essentially an extension of the popular and familiar Linux Installfest idea. We have also partially modeled our ideas on what the folks at www.freegeek.org are doing.
We hope to eventually have a network of FLPC groups across the country (and even the world) promoting the use of FOSS to recycle used computer equipment back in to their local communities..

Here's part of what he wrote in second message:

You may also want to view a presentation on FLPC called Bridging the Digital Divide at http://docs.thinkfree.com/freelinuxpc (off-site) (we're planning to revise it and put it on freelinuxpc.org as a flash video in the near future).

After reading his messages I decided to go take a look at the Free Geek web site to see how thier operation ran. I was able to find the Free
Geek Wiki and that seems to be a good source of information about what  goes on with thier organization.

So here are a few pages from the Free Geek Wiki:

Okay. So you've read all of the documents and would like to voulenteer for the Free Linux PC project.

Your next step is to contact the Free Linux PC Project at (freelinuxpc@gmail.com )

In you message tell them how you found out about the Free Linux PC Project, the city and state you live in and that you are intrested in becomming a voulenteer.  You
should then receive a response on what the Free Linux PC Project is about and some options on how you can offically become a member/voulenteer.

Since this project is in it's infancy you might consider copying my method for building my voulenteer base. Right now I'm searching the internet for Linux user groups
located in my state and contacting 4 of the ones closest to my home address.

Here are some directories that list Linux User Groups:

Good luck and welcome to the Free Linux PC Project.

Thanks for visiting.
